Born in 2010 in a school of art and design, the Monkey Bird duo (Singerie Oisive) consists of two young pochoirists who have chosen to work with an unusual couple, worthy of the greatest fabulists: the monkey and the bird. Most often reproduced in white on a black background on multiple supports, it is a whole fauna which encrusted filigree in the streets of the cities of several countries. First in Bordeaux, incubator city of this prolific tandem, then to Paris and Amsterdam, through India and Mexico. The animals created by the Monkey Birds, whose variety of species makes it possible to work at will on ever-changing postures and scenographies, combine a modern and baroque aesthetic borrowed from various artistic trends. Through collaborations with other artists, such as the Mexican calligrapher Said Dokins, the duo expresses their taste for the work of the letter and the illumination, but also for all that touches on traditional and contemporary craftsmanship. The resolutely universal approach, even humanistic, of the two accomplices will delight the amateurs of a visual poetics which leaves the beaten tracks to build a breadcrumb trail between the peoples and the walls which surround them. From liana to liana and from nest to nest, this opus recounts their journey nourished by reflections, encounters and the love of art in all its forms.
