FILM SCREENING & TALK
27 September, 19:00 – 21:30 | URBAN NATION Museum | Bülowstraße 7, 10783 Berlin
Accompanying the exhibition Project M/20_GEN+ESC the URBAN NATION Museum hosts a screening of selected episodes of the featured series of short art films. It takes place within the series MCL presents.
The screening is followed by a panel discussion with artist RABI, producer Dominic Nieri, and curator Michelle Houston, where they will go further into themes around identity, belonging and coping with global change through digital escapism. Giving insights into the stories and making of the films, the subject of episode 12, Tobias Braun, will also be present and share his experience on set and as a subject, which will then be followed by question & answers.
The event is open to the public, free of charge and includes a highlight of a choreographed contemporary dance performance.
The event will be held in English.
Admission: 18:30
ABOUT THE WORK
The series _gen+esc (generation+escape) captures subjects whilst they share their most intimate spaces and thoughts. As they discuss themes of identity, belonging, process, and coping with global change, commonalities of escapism and contradiction arise among them all—highlighting our society’s obsession with self-image and the ironically ubiquitous bid for individuality.
In a digital age sculpted by super-curated experiences of false reality, are we a generation fated to chase freedom through escape? Can we accept the pervasive and persistent contradictions of the human experience?
